Dear AG Family,
RE: GEORGE ONG
Greetings to you in the precious Name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
With reference to the NCCS’s Official Statement in Response to “An Open Letter to NCCS” and a recent video posted by George Ong, I would like to address and correct the misrepresentation of his status presented in the NCCS’s Official Statement as well as the allegations made by him.
1. Clarification on NCCS’s Statement Regarding George Ong’s Status
The NCCS did not verify the facts concerning George Ong’s status with the Assemblies of God (AG) Singapore prior to issuing their Official Statement. On 30 October 2025, after being alerted by a fellow minister, I wrote to the General Secretary of NCCS, stating:
“I wish to clarify that the information in paragraph 5 of the statement is inaccurate. For your kind attention, Mr. George Ong withdrew his credential from the Assemblies of God of Singapore in 2014 as he was not in good standing with the fellowship. I would appreciate it if paragraph 5 of the official statement could be corrected accordingly.”
On 2 November 2025, the NCCS General Secretary replied:
“We shall amend paragraph 5 of our Official Statement at the appropriate time, after the Executive Committee has been informed of the details you have provided. The amended version will then be shared accordingly.”
Regrettably, the NCCS has not amended its Official Statement to date.
2. Clarification on Ordination and Withdrawal
It is inaccurate to state that AG Singapore asked George Ong to retain his ordination after his withdrawal. This was not possible. On his own accord, George wrote to AG Singapore on 1 September 2014 to withdraw his ordained minister’s credential due to his personal belief that the Pre-Tribulation Rapture position is a “false doctrine.”
On 15 October 2014, the AG General Secretary replied, confirming that the Executive Committee had accepted his withdrawal and had cautioned him against dividing the Body of Christ by labelling the Pre-Tribulation Rapture teaching as false doctrine. A formal letter was also sent to inform all AG ministers of his withdrawal.
George has disassociated himself from the AG Singapore and is no longer in good standing with the fellowship. AG Singapore is therefore not obligated to make any exception for him to retain his ordination.
Regarding the question of why AG Singapore did not prevent him from using the title “Reverend,” the answer is straightforward — George is no longer part of AG Singapore, and we were unaware whether the title he used was conferred by another organisation, until it was mentioned in the NCCS’s Official Statement.
George Ong appears to be attempting to draw AG Singapore and other fellowships into supporting his personal doctrinal stance. However, as he is no longer associated with AG Singapore, we have no obligation to engage him.
I trust that this clarification adequately addresses the inaccuracies found in the NCCS’s Official Statement and in the allegations made by George Ong.
Yours in His service,
Rev Dr Chia Beng Hock
Executive Director
